Farmers in Burkina Faso are demanding that the Burkinabe government and cotton companies reverse their decision to phase out the producti on of Bt cotton. Although the cotton trading companies are excited because they are getting premium prices for conventional cotton, pesticide application has increased 70 percent since Bt cotton was phased out, endangering the health of farmers and increasing their costs.
