Two years after Burkina Faso phased out growing genetically modified (Bt) cotton, the pressure of pest infestation on cotton fields has become so high that many farmers are convinced the industry will collapse soon unless something drastic is done. They see themselves in a race against time, and say the government must either bring back GM cotton or introduce some other extraordinary technology.
